this last weekend we went to our cabin my parents own at Frenchman's Lake. of course we took our dogs with us, Toby the lasapoo and Josie our Bassett Hound. we got up early in the morning to cook breakfast and let the dogs out to go play adn run around for a while after being cooped up in the house all night. well, when we came out side both of them were gone. and we couldn't hear their cow bells that we put on them that morning to hear them, since niether of the dogs are higher than the sage brush. as the day got later and later, there was still no sign of them. i was starting to get really worried cause of how small they were, i figured that if they didn't get back by the time night came they would be somethings meal.
at about 4 pm when the sun was going down i heard a bell, and started calling to them and sure enough here they came prouncing up the hill, cause they don't know anything is wrong. i was sup[er relieved when they got back, but couldn't help think what they had done with their 12 hour day running around the valley, free dogs and all. it made me thing of Homeward Bound and Milo and Otis, both pet advencture movies...
Homeward Bound:
Remake of the popular Disney classic, this time featuring some well known voices as two dogs and a cat trek across America encountering all sorts of adventures in the quest to be reunited with their owners.
Three pets (Chance, a young dog unfamiliar with the world; Shadow, an aging, wise dog; and Sassy, a snobby cat) are left behind when their family goes on vacation. Unsure of what happened, the animals set out on a quest to find their family. This journey across America is very dangerous and the animals risk never seeing their masters again. The group of pets travel across forested mountains and areas of wide-open countryside, while their family searches for them in the same areas.
The adventure begins when the loving owners of three irresistible pets (Chance, a fun-loving American bulldog pup; Sassy, a hilarious Himalayan cat who lives up to her name; and Shadow, a wise old golden retriever) are forced to leave them in the temporary care of a friend who lives hundreds of miles away. But after several days, the worried animals begin to their family must be in trouble, so they decide to head for home. On their incredible journey across the ruggedly beautiful Sierras, they encounter unexpected surprises from man, beast, and nature alike.
